Dartford Labour campaign team have been out in the town centre campaigning against cuts to policing. Kent Police face a 20% reduction to their budget over the next four years. The Chair of of the Police Authority has predicted this budget cut will mean 1500 police jobs will be lost.
A freeze on recruitment has been announced, so that no new police will be trained and passing out in the near future. Ann Barnes, the Chair of the Kent Police Authority, has also criticised the Government for spending money on changes in governance, at a time when front-line policing is under pressure.
We believe that protecting police numbers helps the police to protect all of us. More and more people are fed up wit the Tory-led Government’s broken promises and thousands have joined the campaign against police cuts.
