Labour’s Living Wage campaign takes to the road

Last weekend, the Dartford Labour Party took to the road with its Living Wage Campaign. Following on from last month’s successful campaign launch, organised jointly with Unison in Dartford High Street, Labour’s Living Wage roadshow visited Temple Hill Square, Swanscombe High Street, Longfield Shopping Precinct and Fleetdown Parade.

There was a great response from local residents and Labour’s message – that a hard’s day’s work deserves a decent day’s pay – is clearly a popular one across the borough. But the campaign doesn’t stop here and in the coming weeks Labour in Dartford be working to persuade as many local employers as possible to pay their staff at least the nationally recognised £7.45 hourly rate  – the minimum pay rate required for working people to be able to provide their families with the essentials of life.
