Last week, the Labour Group on Dartford Borough Council pushed through a motion to end the use of Single Use Plastics by the Council.
The Labour Group tabled an amendment asking the Council to phase out the use of Single Use Plastics (e.g. straws, plastic bags and plastic cups) from all Council properties, facilities and Council-run events within a year.
Single Use Plastics are really damaging to our environment and our local wildlife. The also contribute to Dartford’s litter problems – problems which a Labour Council in Dartford would seek to solve.
We also wanted the Council to take one step further and become a plastic-free Borough by 2020. While there were some amendments, our motion went through relatively untouched.
