We are Newtown residents who think our area deserves a better service from the Council. Just like you, we think Newtown is a great place to live and work, but since the last election, our area has been badly let down by the current Conservative councillors.

Where are the promised improvements to parking, refuse collection and street cleaning?

Anyone who lives in the area can see for themselves the appalling problems caused by poor and illegal parking, obstructed roads, corners and pavements, impassable to pram and wheelchair users and dangerous to all pedestrians.

You’ve told us that is just not good enough. Newtown needs action not empty promises.

Basic services like street cleaning and waste collection have become unreliable and the levels of litter and fly-tipping are a disgrace. When did you last see a litter-picker on your street? Is there even a litter bin on your street and is it always full to overflowing? We’d like to introduce a community clean-up programme and encourage everybody to take pride in our tidy neighbourhood.

We believe Newtown deserves strong, local voices fighting our corner and we’re looking forward to speaking to as any of you as possible over the coming months to hear about the issues that matter to you.
