We all know that Swanscombe railway station is a no go area if you are disabled, a parent with a pushchair, someone who is unable to walk up/down a number of steps.
Anyone who has difficulty using Swanscombe Station has to then get a bus or taxi to either Greenhithe or Northfleet when they want to use the train – that’s not acceptable.
Emma Ben Moussa, local resident and Swanscombe Labour campaigner, said:
“We have a train station right on our doorstep and everyone should be able to use it. We need step free access at Swanscombe Station.
Using a pushchair myself, the Station is a nightmare to use and it’s simply not acceptable that residents who wish to use Swanscombe Station have to journey to Greenhithe/ Northfleet to use a train when there is one just down the road.
I’d urge all who support with our campaign to use the link below to nominate Swanscombe Station for improvements so we can create a Station for everyone.
Swanscombe Labour has been campaigning to get this changed for some time now and we really need your help to make our community better and to make local transport accessible for everyone. £300 million of government money has been made available to rail companies to make accessibility improvements to local stations and we’d love it if you could join us in nominating Swanscombe Station for some of this funding so that everyone can use their local station whenever they wish.
We need to make sure Southeastern listen to the residents of Swanscombe!
Below is the link to the form that needs to be completed by September 30th – please complete and share with as many people as you can – together we really can make a difference!
